Applicability of Ethical Conduct in Small Scale Enterprises

Abstract:
The paper sets to determine the level to which ethics are applied in small scale business. Primary method of data collection was adopted. 10 small scale enterprises were selected from available small scale enterprises in Lafia metropolis. The population per selected business is Alamari Table water 10; Lavista 10; Amba Micro Finance 15; NADP 27; Horse Power Pharmacy 7; Global Computer Enterprises 7; Eggon Community Secondary Nasarawa Eggon 20; Hope Academy 20; FAHCI 25; and Ezejay Fisheries 7. Out of the population, 7 from Alamari Table water, 7 from Lavista ,10 from Amba Micro Finance, 14 from NADP, 5 from Horse Power Pharmacy, 5 from Global Computer Enterprises, 15 from Eggon Community, 15 from Hope Academy, 17 from FAHCI , and 5 from Ezejay Fisheries were selected using the random sampling technique. Tables and simple percentages were used to analyze the data. The paper finds that Ethics is practiced in virtually all the small scale businesses under consideration, but not holistically. Therefore it is recommended that a down-earth application of ethical standards in small scale businesses should be embraced for efficiency and growth.
