Realizing the centrality of infrastructural facilities to rapid and sustainable and sustainable socio-economic development of the country, and determined to effectively tackle the infrastructural deficit bedeviling the country, the federal government of Nigeria in conjunction with the state and local governments in July 2009, launched an all-encompassing policy document tagged “Vision 20:2020”. The policy document laid out various strategies aimed at developing the infrastructural facilities and other social and economic sectors with the ultimate goal of placing Nigeria among the top twenty largest economies by the year 2020. This paper assesses the efficacy of the strategies put forward in the document in achieving adequate and sustainable infrastructural development in Nigeria. It also evaluates the level of implementation of the policy so far. The paper notes encouraging performance in some sectors such as transport and education but not too impressive performance in health, energy and electricity. The paper concludes that there is room for improvement given adequate commitment on the part of governments at all levels.
